THE STORY:
Inspired by a new shopping concept
called "supermarkets", two Dallas friends named J.R. Bost
and Bob Cullum bought a small local chain of stores and
worked their hearts out to compete in a retail industry
ruled by giants.
They named their store Tom Thumb, fittingly. But desite
its small size, J.R. and Bob worked tirelessly to improve
the store selection, quality and overall shopping
experience for their local customers.
And when Dallas boomed, so did Tom Thumb. By
leveraging its local advantage, it prospered and had
grown to the "supermarket" it is today.
THE STORE:
No matter how large Tom Thumb stores
grew and despite the world of changes in the grocery
business, every Tom Thumb store is, and will always be,
proudly local. A small idea made big through innovation
and strong connection with the community.
